Loss of a loved one
You were smart,
You got the best grades,
Always on top of your class,
You excelled at everything you did
Made your parents so proud
Their little boy,
One of the most successful businessmen in the country!
Not to mention the father of an adorable baby boy.
Yes, you had it all,
Everything a man would want.
But your perfect life wasn’t so perfect.
No, you had problems,
Demons as we call them,
At first you had it under control;
'Occasionally' as you called your habit
But after a few years you lost yourself
You succumbed to the demons within,
You allowed them to destroy your life,
To destroy you
You were beyond redeemable
We tried everything,
But nothing helped
Eventually all you had left was your parents and your life
If at all you did:
For what’s life worth living when you’re basically all alone?
Your mother was the only one who believed you would come back to us
And I believe that it hurt her the most when those demons finally took your life.
We shall remember you my dear, sweet one.
Not as the man who lost everything,
Not as the man who couldn’t put the bottle down,
But as the man who loved so deeply,
As the man who didn’t allow his success to blind him,
As a son,
As a brother,
As a husband,
As a father,
And as a friend.
